RALPH WINTER hosts unique art exhibition

Interior designers and artists from across the county were invited to the RALPH WINTER showroom last Thursday evening for an exclusive viewing of Nicola Ravenscroft’s sculptural installation ‘With the Heart of a Child and a Penguin.’

The art exhibition was held in celebration of RALPH WINTER’S recent renovation of its premises and the introduction of new furniture ranges. A leading independent supplier of German kitchens, the family run company last year introduced living and bedroom furniture to its product offering, along with lighting and home accessories. Ralph comments:

“We were so delighted that Nicola Ravenscroft agreed to exhibit her work at RALPH WINTER, especially as this was the first West Country viewing of the installation.”

‘With the Heart of a Child and a Penguin’ was conceived by artist Nicola Ravenscroft when she was living in Exeter as a Mum of an Exeter Cathedral Chorister.

The artist edition bronze sculpture installation of 6 children and a penguin, on exhibition at RALPH WINTER, is a prelude to the larger initiative ‘WITH the HEART of a CHILD’, consisting of 193 life size portraits of young children, one child from every nation on earth standing together, peacefully, as friends. The Penguin represents Antarctica, uninhabited by humans, and the feathers of each penguin may be played, carefully, somewhat like a thumb piano.

The installation is an iconic reminder of the duty of care we owe both to planet earth and to our future. Endorsed by Cambridge University, the installation recently enjoyed an exhibition at HSBC headquarters in Canary Wharf.

Ralph comments: “We were incredibly proud to host this beautiful and inspirational installation and to invite friends old and new to the showroom for an evening of design and art inspiration, as well as delicious local produce and beverages.

“Our event partners were incredibly generous and we owe a big thank you to Hillside Foods, Pebblebed Wines and Frobishers Juices for their contributions on the evening.

“The event also gave us an opportunity to showcase our new furniture ranges and we were delighted at the positive feedback we received on the evening. We are very grateful to Nicola and our guests for making the event so enjoyable.”

If you would like to see the ‘With the Heart of a Child and a Penguin’ installation, please pop along to the RALPH WINTER showroom where it will be available to view until Friday 18th May 2018.
